This study explored factors that affect academic libraries’ full migration to open access (OA) publishing by critically evaluating existing literature on OA and by engaging with the librarian from the University of the Western Cape (UWC), South Africa. One of the main aims of this study is to investigate the barriers and challenges hindering the wider adoption of fully fledged open access resources at the UWC Library. This involves identifying factors such as technical limitations, licensing issues, perceived quality concerns, and institutional policies that might impede the seamless integration of open access resources into the academic workflow.en_US
